Richard Porter
/Richard is the Principal Engineer, Simulation at Yokogawa Australia. Based in Sydney, the simulator group designs and build Operator Training Simulators (OTS) using software developed by the team in Sydney and from Yokogawa in Japan.
Richard has over 20 years’ experience in the power plant simulation industry. He has developed simulators for a wide range of plants and control vendors such as Siemens, Emerson, GE and of course Yokogawa in locations such as South Korea, India, Singapore and Australia. Richard has worked in the simulation industry through the shift from OTS being used solely as training tools to being used for control system validation prior to plant operation.
In addition to the traditional use for training, power plant EPCs and end-users alike are now able to utilize the same simulator platform to remove a large amount of risk and costs associated with some of the key factors in plant development.
